Vision is our dominant sense and it’s estimated that around 80% of the information we receive is through our eyes.

For a species like birds, defective vision would result in death due to an inability to feed and avoid predators. Fortunately, as humans, we have the ability to restore vision so it makes sense to prioritise the heath of your eyes.

Some eye conditions such as Glaucoma can creep up on us without any symptoms. If detected early enough, advances in technology have enabled treatment which is very effective in preserving vision. However if treatment is delayed, vision loss may be irreversible.

Dr Alan Burrow Dip Optom F.B.O.A (Hd) F.B.C.O. D.Orth. D.C.L.P MSc.(Med) G.C.O.T. M.Optom Grad Cert Glaucoma

Dr Alan Burrow is an Optometrist who did his original training in South Africa followed by three years of study in the United Kingdom, where he was awarded postgraduate qualifications in Contact Lenses, Eye Diseases and Binocular Vision and Orthoptics.

He subsequently completed a Masters degree in Medical Research through the University of Witswatersrand Johannesburg. He has a Graduate Certificate in Ocular Therapeutics from UNSW which enables him to prescribe scheduled drugs in the treatment of eye diseases. In 2012 he was awarded a Master of Optometry degree by the University of New South Wales.

He was awarded an advanced certificate in glaucoma in 2017.
