Why Use State-of-the-Art Technology and Equipment?

We have invested tens-of-thousands of dollars in our state-of-the-art lens measuring instrument, VisuFit (illustrated above). Our instrument takes nine images simultaneously from different directions and creates a 3D model which adjusts for head movements and calculates the precise position of the optical centre. Furthermore, it takes measurements of the frame shape and position so that the lens design can be adjusted to minimise the distortions and enhance the optical clarity.

Whilst some optometrist and optical dispensers mark the position of the pupil on the dummy lens with a permanent marker, which can be reasonably accurate, it is nevertheless inadequate for optimal performance of highly sophisticated complex lenses.

Our investment in this machine means we provide precise measurements essential for lenses customised to the patient’s prescription, frame shape and visual requirements which are required to calculate the complex compensatory curves.

Progressive spectacle lenses have revolutionised vision correction for millions of people over the age of 40, allowing them to enjoy the most natural seamless vision at all distances and perform tasks which require flexible vision far more efficiently than in the past.

However, in spite of revolutionary changes in lens designs, all progressive lenses are optically imperfect with areas of significant blurring and distortion.

As a result, it is imperative that the lens be correctly aligned within the frame and accurately positioned in front of the eye. Our VisuFit instrument ensures lenses have been precisely measured to provide our patients with optimal performance.
